GREEN HEART OF ITALY

Central Italy

In Central Italy Umbria region has the nickname of "Green Heart of Italy" that describes its characteristic. Other characteristic features are the renovated Medieval boroughs, quality wines, genuine food, ceramics, and high-quality clothing production such as cashmere. Famous towns are Assisi , the hometown of Francis of Assisi,  -an important spiritual centre-, and Perugia with its charming old town.

Umbria also gave birth to some superb painters such as Perugino, Pinturicchio and the great Raphael.

In less than an hour from Umbria, you reach the Southern Tuscany e.g. Pienza and the surrounding countryside that were shaped according to the Renaissance ideas of ideal town and landscape. A real postcard image of Tuscany. In the area, there is also Montalcino famous for its excellent red wine Brunello.

The 18-hole golf course is positioned under the magnificent Antognolla Castle and surrounded by wild and wooded hillsides. The natural beauty of the terrain has been exploited in the design resulting in a golf course featuring large undulating greens that require accurate approaches. The course has been subject to a thorough renovation in 2018 under the supervision of the original course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr.

Accommodation is available in nearby villas, in the 4* country hotel, or in 4 or 5-star partner hotels in Perugia. In 2023 the castle will be ready as a 5-star luxury hotel. Antognolla is a real luxury experience you shouldn't miss!
